‘Akara-Acrajé Festivals’: Nigeria, Brazil deepen the cultural ties

The organizers of thekara Festival in Nigeria and the Acrajé Festival in Brazil are collaborating to promote the Afro-Brazilian and African-Nigerian heritage shared through culture, cuisine and fitness.

The Akara Festival, led by Fitnesstalkshow Communications, will be held from 16 to 19 October 2025 during the celebration of the World Food Day at Elekia Stadium, Port Harcourt.

He will present culinary competitions, music, dance, traditional games and exhibitions.

The Festival highlights not only food, but fashion of Ankara, cultural immersion and entertainment.

Soye Elekima, president of the Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation of Nigeria (Abbfn) and representative of the IFBB Academy in Nigeria, is the organizer of the Nigerian leg of the Festival.

He said that the Akara-Acrajé partnership reflects long-standing cultural and historical connections between Nigeria and Brazil.

“This collaboration does not only concern food or fitness. It is a celebration of our shared African roots, our fashion, our music and our health,” said Elekima.

“It is also in line with the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Tinubu and derives directly from the recent bilateral agreements signed with Brazil.”

An important highlight of the Nigerian Festival is the challenge for the fitness of Nigeria 30 × 30, which goes from 1 to 30 October with many sports and fitness activities.

The initiative encourages the Nigerians to commit themselves every day in 30 minutes of exercise for 30 days.

The organizers said that he aims to promote a healthy life while showing Akara as nourishing and culturally significant food.

Fitness Talkshow Communications Ltd is also involving food producers and distribution companies such as sponsors and sellers.

The cultural components of the Festival include joint culinary exhibitions, Ankara fashion display, music and art of both countries.

Ankara prints, known for their vibrant colors and daring drawings, are used in the furnishing of the Festival, in the clothing and food packaging.

This cultural initiative aligns with the five mous signed during the recent visit of President Tinubu in Brazil.

The agreements cover aviation, trade, energy, culture, science and technology.

A key result was the signing of a bilateral agreement of air services, which allows direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil for the first time in decades.

President Tinubu and his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, described the move as a door to deepen cooperation in tourism, culture and trade.

Elekima asked for the support of sectors, philanthropists, well -intentioned Nigerians, corporate entities and institutions well intentioned to sponsor and participate in the event.
