Akpoti-Uduaghan opposes the prohibition, storm kogi for homecoming rally

MPs who represented the Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived in the state on Tuesday for a heroic reception from supporters.

The state government on Monday prohibits demonstrations and processions by supporters of senators in the state.

The Kogi State Police Command has also warned Akpoti-Uuduaghan to cancel his return event planned to celebrate the Sallah Festival with his constituents on security issues.

Senator, who arrived in the state with a white helicopter, was received by its supporters from the five regional government regions that formed the Senator District in Ihima, Okehi Lga.

Supporters who were happy to dance in music and erupted with cheers when Akpoti-Uduaghan landed from a helicopter who brought him from Abuja.

In his words, MPs said he was in the state to celebrate Eid al -Fitr with his constituents.

He said: “Yesterday (Monday), we heard on the news that demonstrations and meetings would not be permitted, that the road would be blocked, and a convoy that led to the state would not be permitted.

“I know that we are the target. But then I say, this is not the political season, this is not the campaign time.

“We do not have a general meeting. This is only me, a senator who represents Kogi Central, comes to his people to celebrate this celebration time – sallah with you, and there is nothing wrong with that.

“I do not break the law. This is Nigeria. We have the right to be free, to express our choices in meetings and celebrations.”
