Akwa Ibom Govt stated two desired doctors

The state government Akwa Ibom has stated two medical doctors sought for allegedly suspected their duties after they were trained for eight years by the government.

Commissioner of State for Health, Dr. Ekem John, made an announcement at a press conference on Tuesday at UYO.

John said that medical personnel were Dr. Uduakabasi Ita, Radiological Consultant and Dr. Mfonobong Bassey, Hematology Consultant at the State Health Ministry.

He added that doctors left their duties for greener grasslands without first serving the country to cover their training costs by the government.

“The state government has repeatedly said that every medical officer he trained is a bond to serve the state to cover the training costs before they will be allowed to go for greener grasslands.

“The Ministry of Health has stated they are desirable. We will stop their salaries; tracking them until we find them. Which country they are going to, we will go to the medical council and teeth in the country and we will stop them.

“It is their best interest to immediately report to the Ministry of State Health Akwa Ibom because we will not be held accountable once the medical council and teeth began to sit.

“Now that they have not been invited and there are no problems, we ask their families to reach them to immediately report to the Ministry of Health,” he said.

The commissioner said that in the future, all medical officers trained by the state government must serve the number of years agreed upon in their states will be allowed to resign.

He urged medical personnel to immediately return to their duties on the state civil service, or return all the resources spent on their training by the state government.

The commissioner emphasized that the government would not allow the best hand to get out of the service for “greener grasslands” without first serving Akwa Ibom people whose resources were mobilized for their training.
