The Eta Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has inducted a new corps of officers, ushering in a leadership team dedicated to committing their time, energy, enthusiasm, and ideas toward guiding the chapter to a productive and impactful two-year term.

Also speaking, Executive Director T. Nelson Williams of the International Association of Alpha Chapters (IAAC) expressed gratitude for the presence of fellow brothers. He reflected on the fraternity’s establishment in Liberia, on October 5, 1958, marking its expansion to the West Coast of Africa and inspiring chapters in countries such as Ghana and South Africa.

He also recognized the outgoing president, Bro. William K. Morris, noting that it was during his tenure that Bro. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, a member of the fraternity, was elected President of the Republic of Liberia.

The induction ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at D’ Calabash in Congo Town, with a notable turnout of fraternity members.

The event featured a candle-lighting ceremony and officiating of oath to officially induct the new officers. In their pledge, the new leaders committed to upholding the fraternity’s values and advancing its mission.

In his acceptance speech, President B. Elias Shoniyin reflected on his personal journey and aspiration to serve within the fraternity.

β€œToday, as I stand before you, I accept this responsibility with passion. The success of a man lies in the impact he makes around him,” he stated.

Shoniyin emphasized his openness to dialogue, encouraging members to engage with him on any matter that could contribute to the growth and well-being of the organization.

He expressed gratitude for the capable team surrounding him, confident in their shared vision and purpose.

Outlining his goals for the first 30 days, Shoniyin announced plans including rent a dedicated secretariat for the chapter, which will include office space and a well-equipped conference room.

Relocate the Alpha House to Central Monrovia, closer to the institutions and hubs of national activity.

He also included expanding the scholarship program to support more students.

Strengthen internal communication and enhance social engagement platforms for members.

He concluded by thanking the fraternity for entrusting him with leadership, assuring members that the organization will not regret its decision. He called for collective support and collaboration to drive the chapter forward.
