The former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick, returned to the Continental Football Administration after his appointment as special advisor to the president of the African Soccer Confederation (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe.
The announcement was held on Friday during a live press conference broadcast on YouTube, where Dr. Motsepe confirmed that Pinnick will now attend all CAF meetings in his new advice.

“I didn’t know that Amaju is so loved in the cafeteria,” Motsepe said, recognizing the strong support that Pinnick still commits within African football circles.
The appointment marks a significant return to the leadership structure of CAF for Pinnick, who was previously the first vice president of CAF under the presidency of Ahmad Ahmad.
His influence had decreased in recent years, especially after losing his seat in the FIFA Council by a single vote.
It is widely remembered that Pinnick played a fundamental role in the accumulation of Motsepe’s election as president of CAF in 2021, gathering support throughout the continent. His new role is considered a recognition of his long -standing contributions to the African football administration.
“This appointment is a clear appreciation of AMAJU’s contributions to the game,” said Dr. Motsepe during the informative session.
Pinnick’s return is expected to strengthen the administrative structure of CAF even more, especially when the body prepares for important tournaments and reforms in the coming years.
