The former assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Daniel Amokachi, says that African youth football has matured tactically and mentally.
Amokachi is one of the members of the CAF Technical Study Group in the Sub-20 Cup of Africa 2025 in progress.
“People often say that African football is growing, but I always tell them that it has already grown up,” he was summoned by Café.

“If I hadn’t done it, we wouldn’t have so many best African players competing worldwide.”
The former Everton striker who is also a trained coach, said that one of the outstanding signs of progress is the coaches’ composure.
“In the past, the young African coaches would bark instructions without stopping. I have been there, shouting from the band line,” he recalled.
“But now, even when the teams are behind, the coaches remain compounds. They communicate with clarity and confidence. That is a great step forward.”
