The head of the world record sailed through his heats easily, then intensified in the semifinals, executing a tactical race to obtain 12.36s, the faster time in general.

He led a loaded field that included Grace Stark (12.37), the Olympic champion Masai Russell (12.42s), defending champion Danielle Williams (12.44s) and DITAJI Kambundj (12.44s).

Surprisingly, the Olympic champion Russell vanished in the last stages, while Amusan deepened, producing a powerful sauce in the line to claim silver, his first global medal since his triumph of 2022 and world record. The result also delivered the first podium of Nigeria of the Championships.

Duitaji Kambundji produced the performance of his life, assaulting gold in a Swiss national record of 12.24s, while Stark endured bronze in 12.34s, with Russell relegated to fourth in 12.44s.

Pia Skrzyszowska (12.49s) surpassed Devynne Charlton (12.49s) for the fifth, Danielle Williams finished seventh at 12.53s, and Nadine Visser completed the alignment at 12.56s.

With this performance, Amusan joined Okagbare and Brume as the only Nigerians who have won multiple medals in the World Championship.
