The Anambra State Government has banned weddings, performances and other social events in school premises.
The state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, stated this in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu, in Awka on Saturday.
He said the action was taken to protect the school environment from chaos caused by the general public.

Chuma-Udeh ordered the Chairmen of the Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) to disseminate the information to all school principals and primary teachers in the state.
βThis is a warning to all principals and teachers to stop using the school environment as a commercial venture.
“Furthermore, school principals or elementary school teachers who commit such acts will be subject to strict action,” he added.
