BREAKING: ANGEL UNIGWE GIVES SUE KANAYO HIS VERSION OF THE STORY
Kanayo O. Kanayo recently expressed her frustration regarding Angel Unigwe and her mother. In a video he posted online, the veteran actor claimed that Angel, with the support of his mother, violated their contract by leaving the set prematurely.
Responding to these allegations, Angel Unigwe’s mother has strongly denied the allegations and defamatory statements made by Mr Kanayo in his video. She emphasized their firm adherence to contractual terms and their dedication to honoring all legal commitments. Angel Unigwe’s mother gave a detailed account of events from 17 to 19 June 2024, during which Angel was engaged in Kanayo’s film project with clear arrangements, especially finishing filming by 9pm every day.
Despite their initial concerns about shooting fifty-seven scenes in three days, they decided to proceed based on assurances from Mr. Kanayo O. Kanayo and his director. On the last day, filming was extended past 9pm by another 45-50 minutes. which they welcomed as a gesture of good will. He emphasized that they left the location after fulfilling their obligations, without any objection from the director or production manager. His statement:
“As background to the events leading up to this, between 17 June 2024 and 19 June 2024, Miss Unigwe participated in a film project on clear and agreed terms, most important of all being a daily finishing time of 9pm :00. . Despite our concerns about the feasibility of shooting fifty-seven (57) scenes in three (3) days, we proceeded based on assurances received from Mr. Kanayo O. Kanayo and his director, in the person of Ndifreke Matthew, that the three days will be sufficient to shooting and that the talent’s shooting time of 12 hours starting from 9am to 9pm is acceptable for them, also there will be no extension considering his previous commitment. On the last day, despite the agreed time limit of 9pm, we allowed an additional 45-50 minutes of filming beyond the agreed time, which was done out of the spirit of goodwill and understanding that existed between us, Mr. Kanayo and the director. Upon completion of filming, we left the location without any protests from the director or production manager, Mr. Cosmos Nwaihe, having fulfilled our obligations. Unigwe was deeply shocked after learning of the allegations made by Mr Kanayo in his video. He shared the emotional distress caused by what he perceived as a threat against his daughter, Angel Unigwe. He condemned these actions as cyberbullying and gender harassment, especially painful given his long-standing respect for Kanayo.
Juliet Unigwe concluded her heartfelt statement by announcing her intention to take legal action to ensure accountability and justice in this matter, affirming her refusal to be intimidated. She called on relevant security agencies and organizations to protect Miss Unigwe and herself from any potential hostility from Kanayo.
