Former vice -president Atiku Abubakar reacted to a recent warning issued by the governor on Monday Okpebhale of the state of Edo against the candidate for the presidency of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, declaring that any threat to Obi is a threat to all the Nigerians.
Atiku gave the reaction in a post through his X Manage Tuesday, days after the Governor Okpebholo said that Obi must obtain the security authorization before visiting the state of Edo.
The comment, which came during the defection of a federal legislator, Marcus Oonobun, at the All Progressives Congress (APC), aroused criticisms spread by politicians and citizens of the opposition.
The declaration of the Okpebholo governor was interpreted by many as an attempt to intimidate or limit the data on the opposition to involve freely within the state.
At the beginning of July, Obi had visited St. Philomena Hospital School of Nursing Sciences in Benin, the capital of the Edo state, to donate N15 million for the school project.
But the governor Okpebholo said that Obi’s visit coincided with the rebirth of violence in the state.
“That man who says he didn’t have” Shishi “came and dropped ₦ 15 million. Where did he get it from? After he left, three people were killed.
“For this reason, Obi must not come to Edo without safety authorization.
“His visit coincided with a rebirth of violence in the state and this will not be tolerated,” said the governor.
Reacting to the question through his X Verified account, Atiku said: “Let a threat against Peter Obi or any of us is a threat against all of us”.
