The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the former Vice President of Atiku Abubakar for his new remarks about hunger and difficulties in the country, accusing him triggers public anger and trying to provoke riots.
APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made accusations on Monday night while speaking at Channels Television Politics Today. He described Atiku’s comments as a “burner” and politically motivated, on the grounds that the Democratic Party Chief (PDP) sought relevance after several offers failed for the presidency.
“Atiku seemed not at all related to reality in Nigeria,” Morka said. “With his statement, he seemed to incite the revolution. It was very disappointing that a man who served as vice president for eight years and failed to overcome poverty or hunger now would accuse the administration of this disobedient.”
Atiku, in a statement issued previously by his aide, Paul Ibe, has increased concerns about what he described as a devastating hunger under the government of President Tinubu. He warned that increasing frustration among citizens could trigger widespread unrest if urgent steps were not taken.

Citing historical precedents such as the French Revolution, the 1917 Russian Revolution, and Spring Arab, Arabic argued that hunger and neglect often triggered social upheaval. He also drew parallel with Endstars protest in 2020 Nigeria, which he claimed was partly encouraged by economic difficulties.
“Poor people are increasingly dead because of hunger, while many others live with the mercy of the wrong government policy,” Atiku said, adding that Tinubu’s economic reform had no “human face.”
APC, however, considers its position as a hypocrite, maintaining that administration is focused on applying policies to stabilize the economy and improve the welfare of citizens.
