APC blames ADC for internal crisis and supports INEC’s decision on…

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of being responsible for its internal crisis, saying the opposition party is “the author of its own destiny”.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, in a statement issued on Thursday, April 2, 2026, described the ADC as a party driven by confusion and desperation, alleging that it had resorted to spreading conspiracy theories against the ruling party.

Morka said the ADC’s challenges stemmed from internal mismanagement and leadership disputes, not external interference by the APC.

Morka specifically condemned the emergence of a factional leadership led by former Senate President David Mark and former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola, arguing that their seizure of power of the party violated its constitutional provisions and ignored due process.

He also defended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s decision to de-recognize the faction’s leadership, saying the move was in accordance with a valid court ruling and democratic principles.

The APC spokesperson said: “INEC’s decision to de-recognize the factional leaders led by David Mark in accordance with the court ruling, is valid in law, justified in fact and consistent with electoral politics and democratic practice. It is the consequence of the Party’s reckless and desperate misadventure.

“It is therefore highly evasive and irresponsible on the part of the ADC to blame the APC for its internal problems of which they are the sole architects.

“The reluctance of the ADC to take responsibility for its abject failure to follow due process, order its internal affairs and manage its self-inflicted crisis makes the ADC grossly unsuitable as a platform to be taken seriously by Nigerians. A party that cannot fix itself cannot possibly fix Nigeria.

“The ADC has absolutely nothing to offer beyond its senseless attacks on the APC. Attacking the APC appears to be its core commitment and manifesto. It is a party devoid of ideas and lost in the vain desperation of power.

“Our great party and the administration of President Bola Tinubu remain steadfast in advancing the agenda of renewed hope and strengthening democratic institutions for peace, unity and prosperity of all Nigerians.”
