APC Condemns Obaseki’s Siege of INEC Headquarters – Edo People Must Defend Democracy Against Tyranny

The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to alert the public to the disturbing actions of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his puppet godson, Asue Ighodalo, who have launched an aggressive siege on the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Their objective? To intimidate and pressure the institution to declare Ighodalo governor-elect, despite the clear rejection of their party by the people of Edo State.

It is no surprise that Obaseki, who has repeatedly declared that this election is a matter of “do or die,” is now attempting to bend INEC to his will. After realizing that the election was peaceful, fair and without the substantial violence he could have counted on, Obaseki is now resorting to his last weapon: intimidation. Frustrated by his party’s defeat, he has decided to activate his infamous threat to “burn Nigeria” in a desperate attempt to hold on to power through his godson.

Let there be no errors: The APC will not tolerate this brazen attempt to subvert the will of the people! Edo people came out peacefully to cast their votes and their voices must be respected. We categorically reject Obaseki’s strategy of using threats and coercion to force INEC to declare his candidate the winner. Edo people have said no to his misrule and corruption and no siege on INEC headquarters will change that.

We call on the people of Edo to rise up in defense of their democracy. Governor Obaseki’s period of tyranny is over, and he knows it. His current actions are those of a desperate man who fears the inevitable. The APC stands with the people of Edo and assures them that we will resist any form of manipulation or intimidation that seeks to weaken their vote.

We call on INEC to firmly oppose these intimidation tactics. We urge them to maintain their integrity and ensure that the electoral process remains free and transparent. The future of Edo must not be compromised by the selfish ambitions of a failed administration.

Edo people, the time has come! Defend your vote, defend your state and resist the bullying of Obaseki and his henchmen. Democracy has spoken and no threat can silence it.
