The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has demanded an investigation into the alleged diversion of rice and other relief items donated by the Federal Government to the state by some government officials.
The party also demanded the prosecution of those likely to be charged by an independent inquiry.
The APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, who made the call in a statement on Saturday, expressed concern over repeated incidents of diversion of social assistance by government officials in the state.
He warned that failure to take action could be seen as tacit support for evil and unpatriotic acts.

Abbas cited several examples, including the discovery of hundreds of sacks of rice labeled “Federal Government Food Security Program,” at a private school in Sagagi in the state.
He also mentioned the arrest of Tasiu Al’amin-Roba, who allegedly worked for the Secretary of State Government to divert state aid funds.
The APC chairman also accused the state government of rebranding and repackaging painkillers with the Governor’s picture and the logo of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for sale to party members.
He criticized the state government for claiming credit for the federal government’s intervention towards farmers and other individuals in Kano.
He described the government’s actions as a deliberate attempt to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to support the people.
