APC elects new chairman, another in Benue

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, on Tuesday, elected new officers to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

Chairman of the APC Congress Committee in the state, Dr. Auwalu Ishiye, who conducted the exercise in Makurdi, said new officials were elected through affirmation of votes.

He said that all 36 officials took the oath of office.

Ishiye added that the exercise was part of the party’s usual routine of promoting unity, discipline and internal democracy.

The chairman commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for pushing for a peaceful congress across the state, saying that the decision of the party is always supreme.

He said the congress was not only credible, fair and transparent but also worthy of appreciation.

Alia, in her remarks, commended the APC Benue family for their peaceful and lawful conduct across the ward, local government and state congress.

The governor said such behavior would go beyond greater development, economic growth and increased security in the state.

He said his administration was determined to bring the people to the new Benue.

“A new Benue is possible. The wheels of a new Benue are on and will not be turned off again. Move forward. I will continue to defend you and work for you,” said the Governor.

He described all congresses in the state as credible, smooth and transparent.

In his acceptance speech, the new APC chairman in the state, Benjamin Omale, promised that the new executives would strengthen the party at the grassroots to garner more support for Alia.

Omale also urged the people to put aside their political differences and embrace peace and unity for the betterment of the party.

Other elected state officials are deputy speaker Mr Alphonsus Indyar, secretary of state, Solomon Kachinah, legal advisor, Barr. Teehemen Ngbea, treasurer Smauel Imenger, organizing secretary, James Ornguga
