Hope Uzodimma, chairperson of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and governor of Imo State, has defended President Bola Tinubu from criticism over the current economic woes in Nigeria.
Governor Uzodimma argued that it would be unfair to blame President Tinubu, saying that economic challenges are part of a global phenomenon and not unique to Nigeria. Uzodimma made the remarks during a solidarity visit to the APC secretariat in Abuja, where he expressed condolences to the ruling party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, over the loss of his mother-in-law.
He was accompanied by Governors Bassey Otu of Cross River, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti. Uzodinma said: “We do not need to whip the horse too much. The truth is that the APC has done very well in Nigeria. What is happening now is a global economic problem.
President Bola Tinubu is also developing policies to ensure that given the type of economy and the situation he encountered on the ground, he has started treatment. “We must visit the secretariat to be in touch with the party leadership, the national president and the members of the National Working Committee and most importantly to commiserate with him who has just lost his mother-in-law; and also show solidarity with the president and the leaders of our party.”
