Some All Progressives Congress (APC) members from Oredo local government area of ββEdo State switched to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday.
The defectors who came from District 1 of Oredo LGA were led by Sidney Egede, an APC chieftain in the area.
They were received into the PDP by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Uzzi.
Uzzi commended the defectors for taking the bold decision to leave the APC and switch to the PDP ahead of the September 21 governorship election in the state.
According to him, the defection will further improve the chances of the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, in the election.
The commissioner described Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, as the most qualified candidates to replace Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Uzzi urged the people of Oredo to reciprocate Obaseki’s generosity by appointing two people from the area to his cabinet.
He said: “Those who label Governor Obaseki as a fool and without ideas are the ones who have no ideas. We grew up together in this environment.
βWhile Governor Obaseki grew up in College area, I grew up in Jemide area. Those who call the governor a Lagos boy do not know what they are talking about.β
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, said the APC’s political dominance in the region was over.
Osagie said the defection of Egede and others to the PDP was a major boost to the party in the area.
