The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of Plateau has criticized the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for condemning this new visit to the President of Tinubu Bola to JOS.
The party described the statement of the former Vice President as “politically motivated” and “not getting information.”
In a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary of Publicity who acted, Shittu Bamaiyi, APC said Atiku “did not have a locus of the standi to speak on behalf of the people of the country,” insisting that his comments reflect bad intentions rather than sincere concerns.
President Tinubu traveled to JOS during the weekend to attend the funeral of the National Chairperson of APC which was held at the Church Headquarters of the Christ in the nations (Cocin).
During the event, the President urged residents to embrace peace, unity and religious tolerance.
However, Atiku, in a statement on Saturday, blamed the presence of Tinubu at the ceremony and described it as “leadership ridicule” and “sad priority reflection.”
The former Vice President believes that Tinubu’s visit, which was carried out “under the auspices of the National Chair of his party,” showed the inappropriate of the suffering of the highlands who continued to suffer from violence and displacement attacks.
Reacting, APC Plateau said Atiku’s criticism ignored the collaborative nature of security management between the Federal Government and the State, as well as Tinubu’s sustainable support for security operations in the region.
“With all the standards, Alhaji Atiku is included in the State Class,” said the party.

“However, his latest comment about the situation on Plateau was made in a bad faith and from a perspective that did not get information. It is unfortunate that he tried to make political capital from the human tragedy.”
The party defended Tinubu’s notes, emphasizing that the President consistently directed security bodies to restore peace and had provided logistics support for their operations.
“Asiwaju Tinubu is the Commander of the Armed Forces, and while the security of citizens is on his shoulders, the state governor both have a constitutional task to protect life and property in their domains,” the statement added.
APC quoted the recognition of Governor Caleb Mutfwang Baru -this new for federal assistance in combating insecure and warm acceptance received by Tinubu during his visit as proof of local appreciation for the President’s efforts.
When acknowledging that the discussion about the improvement of the security strategy was valid, the party said the Atiku attack on the president for a condolence visit was wrong.
“If Governor Mutfwang, head of state security officers, can openly praise the President, it makes sense that Alhaji Atiku has no moral or political position to complain on the name of the highlands,” the statement said.
The party urged critics to prioritize calls for greater security investment than partisan comments.
“The most important thing for the highlands is the spread of additional military assets and personnel to deal with the rebels directly, not the politicization of the ceremony visit,” APC concluded.
