APC’s Tonye Cole challenges Wike to clarify party loyalty

Tonye Cole, a member of the Senior Congress of all Progressive (APC), has criticized the Minister of Federal Capital Region (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what he described as confusion about the political loyalty of the Minister.

Cole, who fought for the Election of the State Governor of 2023 Rivers under the APC, said Wike must clarify whether he remains with the Democratic Party (PDP) or officially in line with the ruling party.

“Is he APC or is he PDP? As far as we know today, he is a PDP. We cannot continue to confuse voters in the state of Rivers and Nigeria in general. This is dangerous for democracy when someone is included in one party but has an influence in another politics, creating an unclear political landscape,” Cole said during the performances of the unclear television channels today.

Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, broke the ranks with his party in building the 2023 election, opposed the presidential candidate PDP, Atiku Abubakar, and called for power to return to the south. He was later appointed as Minister of FCT by the President of Bola Tinubu and since then openly expressed support for Tinubu’s second term offer.

In the August 30 local government elections in the state of Rivers, APC ensured victory in 20 of 23 councils, while PDP won three, including Obio/AKPO, Wike’s political fort where he had served as chairman before the Minister of Ownership, and then as Governor from 2015 to 2023.
