The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of two notorious arms dealers and a kidnap informant, as well as the rescue of two kidnap victims in separate operations in the state.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, the arms smugglers, Abdulaziz Habibu and Nuhu Thomas, were intercepted by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit on August 14, 2024, at Madaci Village, Zaria, with homemade AK-47 rifles. The suspects confessed to supplying arms to bandits operating in the Zaria area.
In a separate operation, Hassan said police arrested Abubakar Yahuza, the kidnappers’ informant, in Gidan Abeh Village, Kagarko Special Administrative Area of the state. Police also foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued two farmers attacked by bandits in Kuriga Village on August 18, 2024.

The State Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, commended the officers for their bravery and urged the public to continue to support the police with credible information to combat crime.
“The suspects confessed to being involved in the illegal arms trade, supplying weapons to notorious bandits operating in Zaria area. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to running errands and acting as informers for the kidnappers who were reported to be hibernating in Gidan Dogo Forest. A brief gunfight ensued, forcing the bandits to flee and abandon their captives,” Hassan added.
