Arsenal knocked out of FA Cup as Man City, Chelsea qualify for semi-finals

Arsenal fell short while Chelsea and Manchester City secured their places in the English FA Cup semi-finals after beating their opponents on Saturday.

The Gunners, who were beaten in the Carabao Cup final, failed to progress to the last four of the FA Cup because they lost 2-1 to Southampton.

Arsenal suffered back-to-back defeats while Saints have now progressed to the last four for the first time since 2021.

At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City beat Liverpool 4-0 in an entertaining game that saw Erling Haaland score a hat-trick while Antoine Semenyo scored once.

Mohamed Salah missed a penalty in the match as victorious City have now reached their eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea snapped a run of four heavy defeats by beating Port Vale 7-0.

Port Vale sit bottom of League One but they reached the last eight of the FA Cup for the first time in 72 years by beating Sunderland in the previous round.

The semifinal draw took place on Sunday.
