The fact that this painting is an important piece of yankee history just flew over my head when I was a child and watched this movie, because I'm not from either the USA or the UK. So it only looked like a painting to me. Only as an adult I understood that the whole thing and comedy of this movie revolves around Bean being a british man surrounded by the strange things he was finding in the USA.
