The second Embassy program of the ASEM campus has officially concluded, marking a significant milestone to empower students who pursue non -athletic careers in sports.
Held for several weeks, the program brought together passionate students from several tertiary institutions to obtain practical experience, exposure to industry and portfolio construction opportunities in the world of sports management and development.
Headed by the sports strategist and founder of ASEM Sports, Sandra Abeni, the program boarded a long data gap in the sports industry: the limited roads for young people interested in races outside the countryside in sports. Through workshops, participation of the real life and tutoring project, the students of the students were exposed to key sectors that include media, event operations, strategy, sponsorship and athlete management.
Speaking about the success of the program, Abeni said: “When I left the university with a title in sports management, I struggled to find where I fit the industry because it was not an athlete. This program is my way of breaking that cycle for others, so they get access, trust and clarity before they even graduate.”
The initiative has already begun to obtain results, several ambassadors are offered opportunities for internships and roles in ongoing projects. The testimonies of the participants reflect a deep gratitude for the rare opportunity to participate in a significant and practical work and be advised by experienced professionals.
ASEM Sports remains committed to closing the gap between education and the opportunity in sports. The plans are already underway for the next cohort, with ambitions to expand the program throughout the country.
