The Nigerian Oil and Gas Workers Union (Nupeng) has suspended the ongoing national strike of its battle with the dangote group.
Breakthrough came after the reunalment meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, after the days of tense negotiations that had previously ended in a deadlock.
According to the Communike signed by both parties at the end of the meeting, Nupeng directed its members to immediately continue the work.
“After a complete deliberation, the following resolution was achieved by both parties: that because the union is the right in accordance with the provisions of the existing laws, the management of dangote and petrochemical refineries approves the union of employees who are willing to associate.
“That the trade union process will soon begin and be completed within two weeks (9-22 September 2025), and it is agreed that the employer will not establish another trade union.
“Arising from the strike notification, no workers or employees of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical will be victims.
“The party will return to the honorable Minister of Manpower a week after the conclusion of the involvement.

“Based on the MoU, Nupeng agreed to suspend industrial action immediately,” said the Communike.
It is important to remember that industrial action was initiated by Nupeng as a protest against the alleged anti-compact practices by dangote groups, especially company policies regarding trade unions.
The strike, which begins on Monday, has triggered a broad panic and makes fuel loading operations stop at several depots throughout the country.
