Atiku blamed Tinubu’s leadership, quoting insecurity

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has linked Nigeria’s insecurity with what he described as a failure of political leadership under President Tinubu Bola.

Atiku made a statement in a statement released on Wednesday by his median adviser, Paul Ibe, after a meeting with a delegation of political stakeholders from the state of Borno led by Mohammed Kumalia.

He expressed concern over the increasing activities of non-state actors, including kidnapping, murder, and struggle for the regional government territory, insisting that the government had failed to show the determination needed to dismantle the criminal network.

“How can all local governments be under the control of bandits? It is not acceptable that terrorists continue to force levies to residents and disrupt agricultural activities,” Atiku said as quoted.

The former vice president stressed that the occupation of the territory in several parts of the northeast, northwest and north-middle reflects leadership disorders at the federal level. He argues that the Nigerian security agency has the capacity to overcome the crisis but does not have a decisive direction from the government.

Atiku also praised the unity that grew among political leaders across party lines, describing it as an encouraging step to find solutions to the challenges of the state.

He convinced the Borno delegation who visited his commitment to the initiative aimed at restoring peace and economic stability, adding that urgent collective actions were needed to “save Nigeria.”
