A coalition of best opposition figures, led by the former vice-president Atiku Abubakar and the ex-state-kaduna governor Nasir El-Romai, has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) for the recording of a new political party: the All Democratic Alliance (Ada).

The application, dated June 19th and recognized by the Inc of Friday, marks a definitive move by the coalition to float a new political platform rather than merge with any existing party.

The group is trying to position the Ada as a formidable alternative to the general elections of 2027, with the aim of disturbing President Bola Tinubu.

Among the main supporters of the coalition are the former Governor of the State of the Rotimi Amaechi and Urar Ardo rivers, calling of the League of Northern Democrats and an ex helpful of the former president OlusaGun Obasanjo.

The formation of the ADA is seen as an answer to the growing public discontent and the changing political alliances at national level.

The application ends weeks of speculation on the fact that the group will revive a deceased political party or launch a new one.

It also arrives days after the INNC has reminded the political actors that the recording of the party is a strictly constitutional process, not subject to political pressure or feeling.

A copy of the application of the coalition, obtained by our correspondent in Abuja, was signed by the National President of the Protem, the head Akin A. Rickets, and by the National Secretary Protam, Abdullahi Elayo.

“We respectfully write to the independent national electoral commission, asking for the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, as a political party,” said the letter.

The group presented requested documents including the Constitution, the Manifesto, the logo and the minutes of the part of the foundation meetings.

The symbol of the ADA is a corn (corn), which the coalition states that abundance, resilience and sustenance embodies: values the party aims to support. The party’s slogan is “justice for everyone”.

According to the coalition, the attached manifesto outlines the main ideology of the party, while the Constitution describes in detail the legal structure, identity and organizational framework of the party. [The Star]
