A late goal from Basit saved a 1-1 draw for TomTom FC, the football team ‘based’ at the University of Ibadan, in a thrilling friendly encounter against the IITA All Stars yesterday at the IITA Football Pitch.
Basit, a 200 level Mathematics student, came off the bench to score his first goal for the club, burying a well-placed shot past the IITA goalkeeper in the dying minutes of the match.
Prior to its introduction, TomTom FC had created a couple of chances but failed to convert them, after which IITA took an early lead in the second half.
The visitors, however, showed determination, gradually taking control of possession and pressing for an equalizer. Their perseverance finally paid off when Basit scored the ball after an assist from Mjay, to tie the game and deny IITA a home victory.
The result reflects the growing cohesion and fighting spirit of TomTom FC as they continue to gain momentum ahead of their next round of friendly matches.
