Battle for Edo – PDP faces more problems as key grassroots mobiliser Tunude Ajie resigns

In what appears to be another blow to the PDP, High Chief Tunude A. Ajie, a prominent grassroots mobilizer, has officially quit the party. Ajie, who notably served as the Director-General of the 2023 Federal House of Representatives candidacy campaign of Eng. Moses Omo-Ikirodah, cited the ongoing internal crises in the PDP as the reason for his resignation.

Ajie’s departure is particularly significant given his extensive service within the party. He has held several key positions, including PDP Local Government Chairman, Etsako East Local Government Council Secretary, Government Property Protection Chairman for Etsako East LGA and Secretary of Edo State Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee. His resignation comes on the heels of Omo-Ikirodah’s exit from the PDP just yesterday, fueling speculation of a potential coordinated shift to the APC.

With the gubernatorial election fast approaching, this series of high-profile defections is raising questions about the stability of the PDP in Edo North. Observers are now wondering if this could mark the beginning of a larger exodus from the PDP, perhaps leading to a significant realignment of political forces in the state. As whispers of a strategic move to the APC grow louder, the coming days could prove decisive in the battle for Edo.
