The chief coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos, says that his team will be free of others in his group of World Cup qualifiers if they beat Lesotho on Friday in his next game, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.
Broos said that a victory in the game against Lesotho, in a weekend in which the second place Rwanda will face Nigeria, will see his team take advantage of the initiative in the group, with his current five -point leadership on the team in second and six on Nigeria seen by many as the main threat.
“If we win on Friday, the work is done. It depends on our opponents to stop. We press them. We have to make sure to win,” Broos said.
He feels that a victory for his team on Friday will press Nigeria to win on Saturday against Rwanda, that he cannot afford to lose so well in Uyo, where the Super Eagles have not yet won a game in the series.
“If we win on Friday, then they have to win on Saturday, and Rwanda cannot afford to lose if they will maintain their second position. It would be an ideal scenario. But we have to win.”
