A head of the Democratic Party of people, PDP and member of the party foundation council, Bode George, said that Atiku Abubakar, former vice -president of Nigeria, cannot be the candidate for the presidency of the opposition party in 2027.
In an interview on politics today, a program on the television of the channels revealed it on Monday.
According to him, βit is against the internal zoning policy of the PDP that a northern candidate emerges from the party in 2027.
βAtiku cannot be the presidential candidate of the PDP in 2027. Our internal zoning policy makes it mandatory to be eight years for the South and the North.
“If Atiku emerges as a candidate for the PDP in 2027 by any means, the party will collapse.”
His observations come when the forum of the PDP governors on Monday rejected the opposition coalition led by Atiku in view of the 2027 elections.
Atiku was nominated for the presidency of the PDP in the 2023 elections, which was won by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It was also the standard presidential bearer of the PDP in the 2019 elections, won by Muhammadu Buhari.
Last week, Atiku, Peter Obi and the former Governor of the State of Kaduna, Nasir El-Romai, revealed a coalition aimed at disturbing Tinubu in 2027.
