The Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, simply known as Simi, urged the audience to desist from calling his daughter, Adejare, “Duduke”.
Remember that Simi published a song entitled “Duduke” in anticipation of the birth of his son in 2020.
Consequently, when she and her husband, the colleague singer Adekunle Gold, welcomed their first child named Adejare in June 2020, some fans started calling their daughter “Duduke” after the famous successful song.
In a recent conversation with VJ Adams, Simi explained that people do not appreciate people who call his son Duduke, stressing that he does not have a meaning.
According to her, “Duduke” was only an onomatopy he used in the song to express how his child makes her heart beat.
He said: “People call my daughter Duduke, that I don’t like it. It’s not his name. It doesn’t even mean anything. If it meant something good, I would have allowed it. But it’s just a beat, Duduke, it was what I meant. My heart beat like a drum.
“Stop calling my son Duduke [laughs]. But do you know what? I understand it, it comes from a good place, so I try not to react. “
