The Governor of the State of the Niger Umaru Bago explained the reasons behind the dissolution of his cabinet.

The Governor announced the dissolution of his cabinet during the meeting of the EXECUTIVE Council of the State of the Niger on Monday 1 September 2025.

Bago has maintained the key officials, including the secretary of the state government, the chief of staff, the deputy head of the staff and other main officials in his office.

Speaking with journalists in Minna Monday, Bago said that the dissolution of her cabinet is a medium -term review of her administration’s performance.

Bago said that some cabinet members could be renamed while others may be assigned to several wallets to instill fresh energy in the system.

He said the government was too big and that people could be lined up in various wallets.

The governor said: “This is a medium -term review of our performance; and as you know very well, these people have been named me. I decided, in the interest of every other person, to group the toilet.

“Some can be recognized, while others can be assigned to other wallets to give fresh energy to the system.

“They made their key performance index: some have passed it, while we find that others can be precious in other fields.”

Bago, therefore, expressed gratitude to the members of the outgoing cabinet for their contributions to the development of the state of the Niger, saying: “Everyone is part of the foundation we have had; we are grateful for their contribution.

“What we did is a collective responsibility.”
