The 19 Times Belgium League Champions Club Brugge has clarified the role of former Nigeria Joseph Akpala, who has joined the club as part of his training team, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.
When confirming our reports on his job, the coach said that the 38-year-old will work as a players’ development coach within the technical configuration, with an approach to the individual development of the players that are expected to be part of the first team in the nearest A-Core future.
He will also be part of the team of the first team of chief coach Nicky Hayen, the game preparation coach, Hayk Milkon, physical coach Eddie Rob and goalkeeper coach Wouter Biebauw.
With a limit of 9 times by Nigeria at the upper level during his days of the game, the old club was chosen by the old club as a replacement of Michiel Jonckheleree, who assumed the position of coach of the head of the League team of the Top Kv Kortrijk Division.
Akpala was in the Brugge Club books from 2008 to 2012 and distinguished himself as his best shooter with 39 goals of 105 games before going to the German Bundesliga, where he played for Werder Bremen.
He will resume in his role in the season, and will be the second time in his short managerial career that will play the role of assistant coach, since he occupied the same role in Kortrijk under several coaches.
