Benue airport a turning point for farmers, economics – viashima

The general manager of the Benue State Bureau for International Cooperation and Development, dr. Atondaser Leo-Angelo viashima, Sunday, described the airport initiative of the governor Hyacinth alia as a vision.

Speaking with journalists, he claimed that the absence of an international standard airport has maintained Benue on the edge of opportunities, unable to fully capitalize his agricultural force.

He said the proposed airport, located strategically along the GBOKO -Vandeikya corridor, is designed to include loading structures, cold deposit and customs space.

These characteristics, said, will allow Benue farmers to export fresh products directly to global markets such as London, Dubai and Accra, in a few hours, not for weeks.

“Post-racolted losses in Benue are estimated in billions of Naira every year. This airport is the artery that has disappeared to pump life in our chain of agricultural value,” observed viashima.

He said he will improve access to the rich cultural heritage of Benue and panoramic landscapes, will attract investments in the diaspora and will improve the response skills to emergencies.

“It also promises to strengthen safety operations in central Nigeria allowing a rapid implementation of staff and equipment.

“Unlike the past administrations whose airport proposals have never materialized, the governor alia plan is anchored in a gradual model and revenue generator. The first phase will focus on loading operations, linked to an export/import processing area,” he said. “
