Benue PDP challenged the government to mention the name of the politician behind the murder in the state

The Benue State Chapter from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has challenged Governor Hyacinth Alia to stop being involved in the game of blaming and mentioning the name of the politician he accused behind the murder in the state.

PDP when reacting to Alia’s comments during a television interview on Saturday where he accused that several holders of the benue political position in Abuja were behind the insecurity in the state, accusing the governor of being involved in the game of blaming for the murder of instead of being proactive in dealing with insecurity in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Secretary of the Party Publicity, the Nyor Team, PDP said Alia’s accusation was an effort of “political escape” which was not “only irresponsible but also disturbing from the urgent and substantive steps needed to overcome the crisis.”

PDP also described the Governor’s comments as a very careless and counterproductive scapegoat.

“It is important to note that the challenges of benue security are not in isolation in Nigeria,” the opposition party said.

“Neighboring countries such as Plateau and Taraba face the same threat, but their government has shown a more responsible approach by recognizing the reality of security and taking proactive steps to overcome them.

“On the contrary, the focus of Governor Alia has blamed, alternating between accusing Abuja politicians, foreign invaders and other scapegoats, instead of facing the roots of insecurity.

“We have to ask: Are attacks in the highlands, Enugu, Taraba, or in other places solely caused by Abuja’s representatives? Or is Benue chosen unfairly in the hunt for political witch?

“The truth remains that the shepherds attack in Benue preceded the government of Governor Alia, as they did during the term of office of Governor Samuel Ortom and Gabriel Suswam.

“Instead of overcoming fundamental problems, the governor’s rhetoric was damaged by disruption, fake accusations, and propaganda.

“The challenges of benue security should not be dismissed or sacrificed in the altar of political wisdom.

“To insinuate or directly claim that Abuja’s representative is a sponsor of shepherd terrorism is not only not responsible but a diagnosis of dangerous problems.

“Careless confirmation by Alia’s government will surely damage the original effort to overcome the insecurity in the state.

“If he really believes in his claim, he must present a comprehensive security report to the relevant authority for appropriate actions rather than using baseless propaganda.

“PDP urges Governor Alia to leave politics blame and focus on a concrete, inclusive, and responsible security strategy. True leadership at this critical time requires honesty, responsibility, and a unifying spirit: a very important quality for a leader who also bears the moral responsibility of a priest,” PDP’s statement was emphasized.
