Benue State Vice Governor, Barr. Sam Ode, Wednesday, received the torch of units on behalf of the governor Hyacinth alia and formally ensured the full participation of the state at the National Sports Festival (NSF).
The festival, tagged “Gateway Games”, will take place in the state of Ogun from 16 to 30 May 2025.
Ikana Mobe, leader of the National Sports Commission delegation, presented the torch, symbolizing the countdown for the Festival.
Mobe praised the deputy governor for the warm welcome and stressed that the presentation of the Torcia della Unit marks a formal invitation for the participation of Benue’s state at the Festival.
Deputy Governor Ode praised the visit of the delegation, describing it as a symbol of units that will bring together sports enthusiasts from all over the country.
He also praised the governor’s commitment to sports development, in particular in infrastructure development and investments in football.
Ode stressed that Benue State is trying to diversify his sports activities, including volleyball, handball and table tennis, to develop talents that will represent the state both nationally and internationally.
He also recognized the efforts of the Commissioner for Sport, the development of young people and creativity, Terkimbi Ikyange and the management of the football club of the Lobi stars.
The deputy governor has ensured the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for the continuous support of the government and has committed himself to the complete representation of the swan at Oga 2025.
