Benue under the siege of terrorists, Governor Alia shouted

The Governor of the State of Benue, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has increased concerns about what he described as a full scale siege by terrorists, which stated that the wave of violence that increased throughout the state exceeded the narrative held by the clash farmers.

Speaking of today’s politics, a channel television program that aired on Friday night, Governor Alia described a bleak picture of the situation, describing the attack as an act of terrorism that was “planned and executed”. He said the constant murder, which had increased in recent weeks in several regional government regions in the northern, systematic and coordinated state.

“We were surrounded,” he said. “The way this attack came and the intelligence we received, 60 to 65 percent turned out to be accurate, showed that they were not random. This was not just an ethnic or communal clash. This was a calculated act of terrorism.”

Governor Alia noted that the pattern of attacks, often carried out in the middle of the night and without the suspect was arrested, showed a sophisticated level of coordination. “They hit, they ran, and they did not leave a trace. This is not an ordinary criminal. This is a special killer,” he said.

In a surprising revelation, the governor accused certain politicians currently serving in the National Assembly of playing a role in violence. According to him, a temporary report from the judicial panel established by his government has associated leading figures with funding and storing armed groups that terrorized the country.

“Some of the people who were charged in a temporary report were the influential politicians based in Abuja. They were allegedly responsible for inciting, funding, and completing these criminals,” Alia said. “This is very unacceptable. If they struggle for political power by sacrificing innocent lives, then they do not have a place in public service.”

The Governor expressed his determination to act quickly once the panel submitted his full report, which was expected between Tuesday and Wednesday next week. “I am committed to the safety and welfare of people in the state of the benue. When the final report is submitted, we will take decisive action,” he said.
