Boko Haram attacks Borno military post, killing four soldiers

At least four soldiers were killed when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military post along Damaturu–Maiduguri Road in Kaga Local Government Area of ​​Borno State on Friday.

Operation Hadin Kai spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Uba Sani, who confirmed the news in a statement in Maiduguri, said five other soldiers were injured in the incident which occurred at 02.30 on Friday.

He added that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties in fierce gun duels with the army.

The statement read: “Operation HADIN KAI troops successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the general area of ​​Ngamdu, following a quick response from troops on the ground and reinforcement elements from the 29th Task Force Brigade.

“The terrorists used Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones and Improvised Explosive Devices initiated by the commandos, targeting their own troops and platforms.

“Unfortunately, our own forces recorded 4 x Killed in Action (KIA) and 5 x Wounded in Action (WIA). Additionally, several Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP) vehicles and Weapon Trucks (GT) sustained varying degrees of damage during the encounter.”
