Boko Haram New – Newly attacking a mere eclipse – CDS Musa

Defense Chief of Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has described a new wave of attacks by Boko Haram and West African Provincial Fighters (ISWAP) as a temporary phase.

Speaking in Maiduguri, the state of Borno, on Thursday during the operational visit to the North East Theater Command, Operation Hadin Kai, General Musa referred to a new rebel attack on Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa declared “only a eclipse.”

His visit included stopping at Giwa Barracks and 7 divisions, Maimalari Cantonment, where he considered the new damage and held a strategic meeting with prominent military officers, including theater Commander Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar.

In the last two months, rebels have launched coordinated attacks, canceling military bases in Sabon Gari, Buni-Gari, Izge, Yamtake, Wulgo, Marte, and Rann. The attack also resulted in the destruction of several communities and loss of lives that were tragic – affecting civilians, security forces, and even some attackers.

General Moses, however, warned of panic, stated that the Nigerian armed forces remained vigilant and able. “The attack bag should not be a reason to worry. The military and other security institutions firmly control the situation,” he said.

He further explained that this new activity was partly the result of increasing pressure on terrorists in the Sahel region, encouraging them to cross the porous border to the Nigerian region, especially around the Lake Chad Basin.

“Security is not one person business,” General Moses stressed. “I begged all Nigerians to support efforts to end Boko Haram, Iswap, Banditry, kidnapping, and every form of crime. Peace and development require collective responsibility.”

He urged the media to focus on highlighting the achievement of security personnel rather than strengthening the propaganda of terrorist groups. “Journalists must partner with us in re -forming narration,” he said.

General Musa also revealed that the Federal Government, under the President of the Soccer Ahmed Tinubu, intensified efforts to improve national security, including the acquisition of sophisticated weapons and implementing new counter-terrorism strategies.

“We are not alone in this matter,” he added. “Nigeria maintains a diplomatic position that is not in harmony but continues to be involved with a global partner. During my recent trip to Russia, we started talks with stakeholders who were ready to support us in this fight.”
