In a major step towards sustainable urban mobility in West Africa, the Bolt travel companies have officially announced the launch of electric rickshaws, or electronic tricks, in Lagos, Nigeria.
This project is part of Bolt’s encouragement to promote environmentally friendly transportation and cut carbon emissions, and this is the first time the company offers electric rickshaws in the city.
This action is in line with the objectives of Bolt’s comprehensive sustainability, which includes replacing several fleets to electric vehicles (EV) throughout the African continent.
E-TrikCles and greener micro mobility choices can help reduce traffic and pollution in the densely populated Lagos city, one of the most dense cities in Africa.

This initiative is intended to assist drivers in reducing expenses, according to Caroline Wanjihia, Regional Director of Bolt Rides Operations for Africa and the International Market, who spoke at the launch of the event.
He said, “We give them a tool to reduce fuel expenditure, avoid the cost of vehicles in advance, and eventually have their rickshaws”.
Electric tricycle services begin with the pilot phase in certain lagos areas before potential expansion to other cities in Nigeria.
