Bong Mines Medical Center undergoes renovation

Bong Mines, Liberia, May 30, 2025 – To bring back the Bong Mines Medical Center to its pre-war status, the Association of Bong Miners (ABM) has embarked on massive transformational initiatives at the medical center.

The Bong Mines Medical Center, situated in Bong Mines, Bong County, is currently enjoying constant electricity as a result of collective efforts of the Association of Bong Miners Diaspora and Liberia (current and former residents) to see the medical center being lit up.Β

Β The cost of the electrification project is put at over USD 90,000 with majority of this amount being generated by ABM diaspora headed by Mrs. Helen Williams Nyemah. ABM-Liberia played the implementing role of the project and at the same time made some monetary contribution as well.

Electricians worked around the clock to install a reliable power system to ensure constant supply of current at the hospital. Surgeries, emergency services, maternal care, etc. are now being provided without any power interruption.Β Β Β

Also, the repainting of the entire medical complex commenced few days ago, as contract agreement between the Association of Bong Miners and a Monrovia based Painting Company was concluded and subsequently signed. The monetary value of the painting contract is put at 19k. The painting contract is expected to restore the beautification of the medical center in a bid to lift the spirits of both patients and staffers.

The Bong Mines Medical Center, once shrouded in darkness and despair, is now becoming a vibrant hospital and a beacon of hope and care for thousands of Liberians and foreigners residing in the Bong Mines community and nearby towns and villages.

The Association of Bong Miners Diaspora and Liberia is resolved to restore Bong Mines, especially the medical center, which is highly commendable. Since the formation of the association, the group has been actively involved in donation of drugs, medical supplies, and equipment to the medical center. During the COVID-19 pandemic in Liberia, ABM raised over USD 44,000 to purchase food and preventable supplies for Bong Mines residents and their neighbors as its way of empowering residents of the community to fight the disease.
