Bayer Leverkusen CEO Simon Rofles is optimistic that Victor Boniface will return to his best form at the club.
Boniface made an instant impact for the Bundesliga champions at the start of last season following his arrival from Belgian Pro League side Union St Gilloise.
The powerful forward scored 16 goals and registered nine assists during the first half of the season.
However, the 23-year-old suffered an injury during Nigeria’s preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and was sidelined for around four months.

The former Bodo & Glint star struggled to hit his peak form after returning to action towards the end of the campaign.
Rofles is optimistic and believes that the player will return to his best level.
“After an injury like that, it’s not so easy (for Boniface) to regain that explosiveness to be able to fully enter the duels, physically, but also mentally,” said Rolfes. Kicker.
“It always takes a little time to regain confidence in yourself and your body. At the start of the season you will be in a completely different state.”
