The Chairperson of the Executive of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Olanipekun Olukoyede, has warned the Nigerians not to condemn the former Commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of Delta Niger (Mend), the Government of Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, for alleged mutilation of Naira’s records.
Olukoyode made a call in an interview on Sunday after the call by Nigeria for the agent to capture and sue Tompolo after a video showed a man spraying Naira’s notes during the 54th birthday party of a former militant leader recently.
The video that is trending has caused many Nigerians to brave EFCC to capture Tompolo and demand it for naira abuse as they did to other violators including celebrities such as popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye alias Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months last year.
Recently, the Nollywood actress, YaBo Ojo and Comedian Ayo Makun, also known as AY, were interrogated by EFCC for allegedly spraying Naira’s notes at Putri Ojo’s wedding.
Another socialite, e-money was arrested and immediately flown to Abuja to be interrogated for abusing the currency at an event.
A few weeks after EFCC vowed to question Tompolo, many Nigerians were still waiting for the commission to match words by action by inviting the leader of the former militant.

However, with a call to the arrest of Tompolo to get momentum, Olukoyode had begged Nigeria not to condemn former militant leaders for what he called mere accusation.
He urged Tompolo to be given a fair trial before the action was carried out against him.
“Nigeria, please don’t curse Tompolo for mere accusations, let’s give him a fair hearing.
“We have experienced videos to forensic analysis because today people can make videos like that,” said EFCC chairman in another video that made many people ask questions if the commission was afraid to catch Tomopolo.
