Brazilian Vice President in Nigeria for ‘Strategic Involvement’

Brazilian Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, arrived in the country on Tuesday for the start of the second session of the Nigeria-Brazilian strategic dialogue mechanism (HR).

Alckmin, who arrived in Nigeria and his wife, Maria, was accepted at the President of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by Deputy Chief of Staff for the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole.

Other government officials who received the delegation were Minister of Livestock Development, IDI Maiha, and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; among others.

This visit represented the watershed in the South-South Diplomatic involvement of Nigeria.

It is expected to produce significant policy breakthroughs in various sectors.

In his words at a brief reception at the airport, Hadejia described the visit as “an important moment in Nigeria’s new hope agenda.”

He said: “This dialogue mechanism is our commitment to utilize the South-South Partnership that provides concrete benefits to our citizens.

“Brazilian expertise in agribusiness, energy transitions, and the development of the industry is in harmony with the priority of Nigerian transformation and the new hope of the President of the Tinubu Bola.”

The three -day summit will lead to the signing of more than 30 memorandum of understanding (MoU) in all critical sectors.

Sectors including; Defense cooperation, transfers of agricultural technology, energy collaboration, and cultural exchange programs.
