Tuesday the federal government delivered 128 people saved from the local government area of Kaura Namoda in the state of Zamfara to the state government.
Speaking at the event in Abuja, the national security consultant, Mallam Nuhu Riadu, described the event as a remarkable result and a testament of the determination of the current administration to guarantee Nigeria.
He said the victims were treated for trauma and supported to reintegrate themselves into their families.
He said: “Today it is not just their return, it is a question of reaffirming our collective determination as a nation to create a safer environment for each individual person who lives within the territorial borders of our beautiful country.
“What matters most is to give relief to our people. These victims have been brought to the office of the national security consultant (ONSA) not only to guarantee their safety, but also to facilitate their healing process.
“Healing is as important as the rescue itself. They will be treated for trauma and claim to reintegrate themselves into their families and communities because we understand that the journey to full recovery requires compassion, care and resilience.”
Ribadu praised the courage of the courage, sacrifice and professionalism of the armed forces, police, intelligence services and all those who have worked silently and diligently to ensure their exits.
“Your commitment is a testimony of our renewed national security strategy.
“This is not an isolated event. As you know, this government has, in recent months, has brought together a series of hostages saved from captivity.
“We have seen the mothers gathered with their children, husbands with their wives and communities made entirely again.
“Every rescue is a victory for the Nigerian people and an overwhelming blow to the terror networks who try to undermine our peace.”
Previously in his observations, the national coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC), Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka, he said the victims were saved in two lots following coordinated operations.
“The first lot was saved on August 14 and included 42 people – 40 males, seven females and a child.
“The second lot was saved on August 19th and included 34 males and 54 females.”
However, he revealed that between the second lot, one of the children died due to the disease and extreme fatigue he suffered during the field of kidnappers.
“In addition, one of the saved women gave birth prematurely and the child is currently receiving care in a incubator in a medical structure,” he added.
