Breaking: the Flamingos of Nigeria Clinch 2025 FIFA women’s World Cup

Despite the winter conditions in Blida, on the outskirts of the Algerian capital, the Algiers on Friday evening, the U17 girls from Nigeria dug their feet on the ground and reached a draw without a score that qualified for the FIFA U17 women’s World Cup finals this year.

Curning to an advantage 4-0 of the first leg, the 2002 bronze medals adopted a calm and harvest model that easily absorbed the pressure scheduled for guests, and then were based on fast breaks to try to press the trigger on their opponents.

Although they created the best possibilities during the night, Flamingos were unable to dominate the remuneration of possession, but quickly collected the ticket for Morocco with an aggregate victory 4-0.

The difference on two legs of the final round was a remarkable view in the opening leg of the flamingos, during which a tutor of Queen Joseph, and one each of Zainab Raji and the substitute Aisha Animashaun ensured a 4-0 victory.

The Flamingos will now be one of the five representatives of Africa (including the hosts of Morocco) at the FIFA U17 women’s Cup finals this year that take place from 17 October to 5 November. The final competition will entertain 24 teams for the first time.

Since the FIFA U17 women’s Cup competition was launched in New Zealand in 2008, Nigeria has not managed to make the finals only once: the 2018 tournament hosted by Uruguay.
