Vice President Kashim Shettima said on Thursday the late former President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with a commitment that was not allowed to fade.
He spoke at a special prayer session held in Daura, the state of Katsina, to mark the third day of Buhari’s death.
The former president died at London Hospital on Sunday.
The event, which took place at the residence of the deceased of the President, attracted thousands of mourners from all countries who gathered to pray for his soul’s rest.
In his words, Shettima described the death of Buhari as “the fall of a large wall.”
He said: “I thank the Governor of Dikko Radda for the service without selfishness and Governor of Babagana Zulum from Borno for his unrodged support from London until now.”
The Vice President also revealed that after the prayer session, officials will continue to Abuja for a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to respect the late leader of Nigeria.

“We will continue to accept foreign diplomats, delegations, and former colleagues who will arrive to express their condolences.
“Buhari serves this country with commitment, and we must not let the vision fade,” he added.
Special prayers are led by different scholars, including former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali-Pantami, who described the death of Buhari as a monumental loss that should not be forgotten in just three days.
“His life and service to the nation deserve to get a continuous warning and sincere prayer from all of us.
“We must continue to remember it in our daily prayers who ask God Almighty to forgive him, forgive his shortcomings, ease his grave, protect him from the grave punishment, and recognize him into his grace and paradise,” Pantami prayed
Other religious figures who conveyed prayers including Sheikh Muhammad Jingir, Prof. Ibrahim Makari, Head of Imam Katsina Sheikh Al-Mustapha Gambo, Katsina Catholic Archbishop Gerald Musa, Sheikh Naziru Kofar-Baru Daura, and Hassan Daura night.
In his remarks, Radda expressed his deep gratitude to the President of Bola Tinubu for his support since the death of Buhari.
“We respect the President of Tinubu for allowing 25 ministers to stand with us during this difficult period and to declare a public holiday to respect the late Muhammadu Buhari.
“We will remain in the last time to accept those who continue to come and give prayers and condolences to people in the state of Katsina,” said the Governor.
Other prominent people in prayer are former President of the Republic of Benin, Boni Yayi, former Vice President Namadi Sambo and members of the National Assembly, among others.
