Buruj FC CEO Waheed calls on youth to embrace dialogue and avoid protests

Buruj Football Academy and Buruj Football Club CEO Waheed Salaudeen has called on youth to embrace dialogue and avoid protests while demanding better governance.

On Monday he told our reporter that youth should avoid the planned 15 days of #EndGovernance starting on Thursday, August 1, 2024, saying they could be kidnapped and turn violent, instead youth should engage in dialogue with the government to see how their grievances can be addressed.

“I will not support anything that may cause social unrest or lead to destruction of property or loss of life. The planned protest has no identifiable leader or leaders, making it a dangerous initiative. We are already seeing counter-protests and this is already a recipe for disaster,” Waheed explained.

“Instead of heating up politics by filling the streets, it is better for the youth to accept dialogue between themselves and the government; this is a better way to register their grievances as similar protests have led to civil unrest in the past which achieved nothing but leaving us with a worsened situation; the records are there,” the soft-spoken football administrator warned.

This adds to the growing voices against the protest planned for Thursday across the country.

Many prominent Nigerians have expressed reservations that the protest could turn violent like the EndSars protests, which led to wanton destruction of property and loss of lives.
