Bwala dissects the ADC, citing six issues hampering the party

A presidential aide, Daniel Bwala, criticized the structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its leaders, citing six issues that he said would not allow the party to grow, or make a meaningful impact.

This occurred amidst a leadership crisis in the party which caused several factions to emerge and claim control of the party.

Bwala stated that ADC’s structure and internal dynamics made it unable to withstand political challenges.

Bwala made these remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, following the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of the faction led by former Senate President, David Mark.

In his post, Bwala said he had previously expected turmoil within the party, arguing that recent developments had validated his position.

“I said this six months ago and if you want to know why the ADC is more confused than the lunatic who used to advise Gregory, here are the facts,” he wrote.

First, he criticized what he described as excessive ambition among party members, stating, “A party where everyone wants to be president (selfishly) cannot build a strong opposition.”

Second, the presidential aide also faulted the way the party leadership structure was set up, saying, “A party built on hostile takeovers will not be able to weather this storm.”

Third, Bwala accused the party of lacking ideological consistency and direction, adding, “A party whose members have double standards applied to society cannot see the way” and fourth, that “A party whose presidential candidate has turned political parties like a chameleon cannot have an ideology.”

Drawing attention to the fifth problem, he said, “A party whose leaders view Nigeria as a means to an end cannot coordinate,” and warned that desperation among its leaders could weaken the government.

“A party whose leaders are desperate cannot govern the Nigerian people,” he added.

Bwala concluded by asserting that the party’s current challenges reflect deeper structural weaknesses.

“Finally, haven’t you noticed that they are more confused now than when their journey began? I said before, ‘give them six months and they will fall’; it is plain before our eyes. Say no to the Association of Desperate Congregation (ADC),” he said.
