Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has captured 51 irregular alleged migrants of Mali in the nasarawa state.
NIS Public Relations officer, Akinsola Akinslabi, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said the initial investigation carried out by the service suggested that migrants become victims of trafficking in persons (tips) and migrant smuggling (SOM).
The spokesman added that immigrants were found without valid travel documents or residence permits.
According to him, they were arrested on Monday in New Nyanya, the territory of the Karu Negara Regional Government, following credible intelligence.

Akinlabi said: “Details of the arrested migrants show 11 women and 40 men between ages 16 and 19.
“The arrested people have been taken to service custody for further profile and investigation.
“This is to determine the state of their migration and potential involvement in network trade or smuggling or syndicate.”
